Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC)

About

This is an introductory course for anyone (including minors) who wants to own non-restricted firearms. First-time license applicants must pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course before applying for a Possession and Acquisition Licence. After the in-class instruction, you will do a written and practical test.

Topics covered:

  • evolution of firearms, major parts, types, and actions

  • basic firearms safety practices

  • ammunition

  • operating firearm actions

  • safe handling and carry procedures

  • firing techniques and procedures

  • care of non-restricted firearms

  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user

  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms

In addition to the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, anyone wanting to acquire restricted firearms must take the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course, and pass the written and practical tests.

FAQs

  • At the moment, we are offering the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC). The cost is $180 + GST. Payment is made by e-transfer to westcoastfirearmtraining@gmail.com.

  • Anyone 12 years or older can take the CFSC. Children under 12 can take the course with parent/guardian permission, but only for educational purposes. They will not do the written or practical exams. To get a Minor's Licence to borrow and use non-restricted firearms, the minor must be between 12 and 17 years old.

  • Courses are held at Sundance Motel - 6574 Ladner Trunk Rd. Delta, BC

  • No, you will be training with non-firing, deactivated firearms exclusively.
